Photomontage of Rider of the Month Alejandro on his Crossfire 500 X
NEWS | 26 April 2022

RIDER OF THE MONTH: Alejandro

1. In one word, why do you ride a motorcycle?
Connection.

2. What was it about Brixton Motorcycles that got your attention?
I love the design, especially the “x” symbol, it reminds me of the old cafe racer style and I’ve always been amazed by that kind of “rockers on bikers” subculture. Riding a bike makes me come alive in a way that’s hard to explain. Realising that life is too short helps you appreciate every moment spent with family. And everything about my Brixton Crossfire, even its unique design, represents that idea.

3. What Brixton are you riding? What’s your favourite thing about it?
The Crossfire 500. I love its balance between power, speed and weight but my favourite would have to be the “x” tank.

4. How long have you been riding for?
I got my Brixton in February 2021.

I love the design, especially the “x” symbol, it reminds me of the old cafe racer style and I’ve always been amazed by that kind of “rockers on bikers” subculture.

5. How did you get into motorcycles?
I’ve always liked motorcycles, just like my father. I used to watch motorcycle races with him on TV. Later in life, I decided to buy my first bike to get to and from work and my passion grew. I also became fascinated by the philosophy and lifestyle of the cafe racer way.

6. What’s the craziest ride you’ve been on? Where do you plan on going next?
Riding from Valencia to Madrid on my Crossfire, which is roughly 400km, and it was in the middle of winter! I wish I wore some kind of heated gloves. Today, I plan to travel around Spain in the summer for two weeks, with only a backpack and the essentials. I’ll be totally free…

7. The furthest from home you’ve ever been on your Brixton?
Madrid, which is nearly 400km away! I usually travel by car when teaching weekends, but I was determined to go all the way to Madrid with my Crossfire. Admittedly, I was a little scared. My wife laughed in disbelief when I told her, because I hadn’t ridden this far before. But I was ready. On the ride, I felt totally connected with my Brixton, which I’ve named Eddie by the way. I only stopped to refuel as I was hurrying to arrive at class on time. It was tough, yet wonderful. I was cold, and my hands froze, but now I’m sure I can go anywhere with my Brixton. I can ride around the world.

8. The most beautiful place you’ve been on your Brixton?
Albufera, a natural park in Valencia. I witnessed the most gorgeous sunset I’ve ever seen here. It’s an oasis surrounded by fields and woods, just 10 km from the city. There’s a lake which is connected to the sea by canals and waterways. Here you can enjoy nature in its purest form, with magical sunsets and the chance to disconnect like nowhere else. You should definitely visit.

9. Would you rather ride on ocean roads or mountain passes?
I choose mountain passes. I am, as some would say, a mountain person and a bit of an introvert too; somehow I feel totally connected to nature.

10. The best place to run out of gas?
There’s definitely no great place to run out of gas!
