Rider of the month: Finn

I’m Finn, I’m 17 years old and I’ve been riding a rebuilt Felsberg 125 since last year. My dad taught me how to wrench and so I added the tank and side panels from a Rayburn 125, the exhaust from a Sunray 125 and other mirrors.

Every time I ride, I wish I could go on like this forever, but the finish line usually comes sooner than expected.

I’m still at school and just graduating, so the price of the motorcycle was also a good selling point. When I took the first ride on it, I knew: ‘This is my bike!’

Why did you personalise your Brixton?

I always wanted to ride a one-off! I really liked the Brixton Felsberg 125, but I also knew how much potential it had for my own creativity and ideas. Over the course of time, I looked at all the 125cc models and there was one component of each model that I particularly liked.

What inspired you to remodel?

The personal touch on a motorcycle inspired me to do this. A bike is not just about riding but also about knowing and caring for it. With the conversion, I was able to use wrenching as a good exercise.

How were you able to finance your own motorcycle as a student?

I paid for the conversions with a part-time job, but my Brixton was bought for me by my grandfather. As he has unfortunately died in the meantime, the motorcycle is a nice reminder of him.

Many people your age prefer to ride Enduro, what spoke against it for you?

Mainly the high seat height. I already liked Brixton when I was sitting on it because I could get both feet on the ground and didn’t have to balance. I also didn’t really like the design of the Enduro bike. I preferred a motorcycle with a retro look and for cruising.

Do you have enough time for other things that you enjoy besides school?

Definitely! To be honest, school is more enjoyable than working. As I’m currently in my final year, I suspect it will be a bit tougher from next year onwards. But when I need some peace, I just go for a ride on my Felsberg 125.

What do you do in your free time apart from riding your Brixton?

I’ve been playing tennis for over 8 years now and train twice a week. Of course, I also enjoy meeting up with friends, cooking with them or simply going out with them. I also work as a shoe salesman twice a week.

Are you updating your Brixton on your own or do you have support?

I adjust the chain, grease etc. on my own. My father is always there when I do conversions and has shown me what I need to do. He helped me with the tank and exhaust conversion. I replaced the mirrors myself. Every time we work on the Brixton together, I realise that I’m getting more confident.

If you could change anything else on your Felsberg 125, what would it be?

That’s a very interesting question. Firstly, I would probably buy slightly larger and round indicators. A side license plate holder and a tank bag. I would also like to convert the handlebars to a slightly more curved model.

Who is your favourite person to ride with?

To be honest, I prefer to ride alone. I don’t mind company, but most of the time I prefer to ride alone, listening to soft music, taking in the wind and the hum of the engine.

Anything else you want to tell us?

For me, Brixton is freedom with the feeling of a real motorcycle with modern technology. It is a brand that I would personally choose again and again.
